Flowers!

I.  Love.  Making these tiny little improv flowers.  I just whip them up without thinking much, really, but as there are a few varieties, I thought I would put the patterns up here.  Hope you enjoy! :)

Flower The First :: start with a slip knot in your center color
1. Chain 2.  The 2nd ch from hook will become your ring, the space that you will crochet into now.  Sc into that 2nd ch from hook, and then sc 5 more times in the same space.  Join to the first sc made with a slip stitch.
2. Change colors to the petal color with a knot close to the work, and ch 1 in preparation for Round 2.  Sc into same stitch.  Ch 5, and sc back into the same space.  You've created a loop of ch, anchored by sc on either end, see?
3. Sc 1, ch 5, sc 1 in each stitch around.  Even though I only sc 6 in the first round, and the join with slip stitch, I usually end up working both the slip stitch and the sc stitch underneath, to avoid gaps in the petals.
4. Slip stitch into the first sc stitch you worked into, to complete the color round.  Finish off.
:: Those blue strings hanging out are two lengths of blue yarn I cut, then threaded through the center, to be used for attaching to whatever you're attaching to.  They're optional. ::

Easy Peasy Daisy :: start with slip knot in your center color
Sc in same space.  Ch 7, and then sc back in the same space, creating a loop.
3. Sc in next st, ch 7, sc again in same st, ch 7, and sc again in same st.
REPEAT 2 AND 3 around the ring
Even though I only sc 6 in the first round, and the join with slip stitch, I usually end up working both the slip stitch and the sc stitch underneath, to avoid gaps in the petals.
4. Slip stitch into the first sc stitch you worked into, to complete the color round.  Finish off.
:: Those yellow strings hanging out are two lengths of yellow yarn I cut, then threaded through the center, to be used for attaching to whatever you're attaching to.  They're optional. ::

Flower The Second :: start with slip knot in your center color
1. Chain 2.  The 2nd ch from hook will become your ring, the space that you will crochet into now.  Sc into that 2nd ch from hook, and then sc 7 more times in the same space.  Join to the first sc made with a slip stitch.
2. Change colors to the petal color with a knot close to the work, and ch 1 in preparation for Round 2.  Sc in same space.  Ch 1, dc in same space, dc in next stitch, ch 1, anchor with slip stitch in same sc stitch.  That creates one petal, utilizing two sc spaces on Round 1.
3. Slip stitch into next stitch, ch 1, dc in same space, dc in next stitch, ch 1, anchor with slip stitch in same sc stitch.
REPEAT 3 three more times, for a total of five petals.
4. Slip stitch into the first sc stitch you worked into, to complete the color round.  Finish off.

2. Change colors to the petal color with a knot close to the work, and ch 1 in preparation for Round 2. Sc in same space (a sc stitch space) and ch 3.  Work a treble-crochet-cluster as follows ::

YO hook again, enter same ch-2 space, draw a loop through.  YO hook and draw through two of the loops on the hook.  You have three loops left on the hook.  YO hook again, enter same ch-2 space, draw a loop through.  YO hook and draw through two of the loops on the hook.  Repeat until you have only one loop left on the hook.
Now ch 3 and sc in the top of the cluster just worked, forming a picot.  Ch 3 again, and sc into the adjacent sc stitch on Round 1.  Still with me?  That forms one petal.
3. Ch 3, work treble-crochet-cluster, ch 3, sc in top of cluster just formed, ch 3, sc into adjacent sc stitch on Round 1.
4.  Ch 3, work treble-crochet-cluster, ch 3, sc in top of cluster just formed, ch 3, and join to first sc made with slip stitch.  Finish off.

Hope you like!  More will certainly be added to this list as I continue to "doodle" around with crochet flowers.  These are ideal for embellishment (I tie them onto my crochet letters), maybe on bags or scarves, or hats.  They might also be used as part of a garland or wreath.
